2023 (First) China Steel Pipe Industry Innovation and Development Conference Held

From March 31st to April 1st, the 2023 (first) China Steel Pipe Industry Innovation and Development Conference and GB/T 5310 New Edition National Standard Publicity and Implementation Conference was held in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province.

Gan Yong, former vice president of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and honorary chairman of the China Metal Society; Zhang Longqiang, deputy secretary-general of the China Iron and Steel Industry Association, party secretary and president of the Metallurgical Industry Information Standards Research Institute, made keynote reports. In his report titled "Thoughts on Promoting the High-Quality Development of the Iron and Steel Industry", Gan Yong proposed: "I believe that before 2030, China's steel pipe technology will lead the development of the world's steel pipe technology." This view resonated strongly with the guests present. In his speech, he pointed out that my country's steel industry is still facing problems such as an unsound industrial chain, unstable quality of high-end products, and "stuck neck" products that have yet to be resolved. Talking about the future development of the iron and steel industry, he proposed to promote the development of reduction, energy saving and carbon reduction, scientific and rational development of short processes, solid waste recycling, non-blast furnace ironmaking, hydrogen metallurgy, digitalization and intelligence, and quality branding.

Zhang Longqiang published a report entitled "Research and Judgment on the New Situation of the Iron and Steel Industry and the Standardization of Steel Pipes", and made suggestions for the development of the steel pipe industry. He believes that the steel pipe industry should continue to promote mergers and reorganizations, increase industrial concentration, integrate production, supply and marketing resources, and strengthen industrial chain coordination. In particular, enterprises other than the top 10 enterprises in the production of seamless pipes and welded pipes in my country are generally small in scale and large in number, and need to further promote professional reorganization. At the same time, he released the China Steel Standard Leading Index (CSSI), in which 5 steel pipe companies were selected in the TOP50 China Steel Standard Leading Index.

At the same time as the meeting, the steel pipe craftsman commendation ceremony and the steel pipe craftsman fund donation certificate awarding ceremony were held. The meeting was hosted by the Metallurgical Industry Information Standard Research Institute and Shanghai Steel Tube Industry Association.
